Maya Likembe brings together the names of an Indian goddess of creation, an ancient Mesoamerican civilisation and an African instrument. Moreover, it’s the name of the band created by the Luxemburgish singer-songwriter and composer Mary-Ann Meiers. While firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, her music and voice are influenced by Latin, African and soul vibes. The project has come to life through the collaboration of musicians from diverse cultural horizons. After numerous demo recordings, their first release was the single Ardent traveler recorded in Luxemburg and the United States. They also released three live songs and an interview recorded during one of the Rocklabsessions, at the Rockhal concert hall in Belval. Their latest recording project is an EP called "Spirituality is the beginning". The release of the EP was on the Sunday programmation of "pause Jazz" at  Abtei Neumünster in Luxemburg.
